About the game
In one sentence
Oddside is a persistent, classless online sandbox in a medieval world whose gates open onto the odd side: a contemporary city that leaks into it.
In a few paragraphs
Oddside is a persistent open-world online game, a classic sandbox: you work, trade, fight, lose and recover in a world where choices carry weight. There are no character levels or permanent classes. There are 41 skills that grow with use, and three of them are chosen when the character is created.
The home world is medieval. Kingsford, the capital, and Brindlecross, the mining and lumber town, are the two towns of the pre-alpha, with guards, banks, healing shrines and residents with routines of their own, on a real-day clock with weather per region. Outside the towns the risk is real: PvP is open and loot is full, with protection for newcomers.
Beyond the gates lie other dimensions. One of them is a contemporary city, the odd side that gives the game its name, from which things and trouble leak into the medieval world. It is a 3D app for Mac and Windows, in Brazilian Portuguese and English, with a warm cartoon look and an iron, bronze and leather interface.
Highlights
- 41 skills, three chosen at creation, no classes or levels
- One game day is one real day, with seasons, moons and weather per region
- Full loot, with guards, law zones, notoriety and newcomer protection (under construction)
- Nobody dies: the character is downed, drops a defeat bag and wakes at the shrine
- Trades and commerce between players, and housing in the pre-alpha; the odd side in the later waves
